Candle Care

Our Candle Care cards are included in each Candle purchase :)

The First Burn is the Most Important!

When you light your candle for the first time, always allow the wax to burn so that it melts across the entire surface of the container. This helps to prevent tunnelling and promotes an even burn for the duration of the candle's life.

To prevent tunneling, all you need to do is burn your candle long enough each time so that the entire top surface of wax is melted.

BUT, make sure not to burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time! After extinguishing the flame, let the candle cool for two hours before relighting.

This is especially important the first time you burn your candle!

Please discontinue burning when wax reaches 1cm from the bottom.

Wick care

Remember to keep the candle wick trimmed to 6mm before each burn. This ensures that the candle does not produce excess smoke, or soot. The candle flame will remain steady and get a longer, cleaner burn.

Candle Storage

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.

  • Follow the 2ft (60cm) rule - don't place a burning candle within 2 feet of clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable.

  • Keep lit candles away from draughts, ceiling fans or any air currents, as this can cause uneven burning, smoking, and even decrease the burn time.

  • Keep Candle in a cool, dry place as Natural Soy wax may sweat in direct sunlight or extreme climates.

  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

  • Place candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface like one of Jyoti Jot’s Candle Coasters.
